Hi, Everybody!  I've had the happy chance of running into many of you over the holidays, and it's always such a joy!  I always ask if you've seen the latest video of the show you were in, and I'm finding out that not everyone has picked up on the emails about videos being available.

So if you've been in a show recently (or any time in the last few years, actually), write to Bob Mabrey at bobmabrey@hotmail.com, put the name of the show you're interested in in the subject box, and ask if he's got it. He'll let you know how to get a copy of the dvd you want.

Hope you're all having a wonderful holiday!

December 17, 2009

Hi, Everybody! I'm kind of kidding about auditions by email. Our Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre will be held along with the Senior Citizens' Center In January this year!  This HILARIOUS farcical romp (a new one every year!!) is written and directed by the brilliant, if diabolical, Mike Druce, and ALWAYS brings the house down!  Time is tight at this time of year, so we are looking at auditions soon after Christmas. We know many or you are gone during that time, so we're asking for a show of hands ASAP!

If you are interested in auditioning for MIKE'S MURDER MYSTERY& Merry MAYHEM, please email me RIGHT BACK- TODAY! -  and let me know you are interested and give me an idea of your schedule between now and Jan 31. We will set an audition time to get started as soon after Christmas as possible. It's a one-act show, so don't worry about the abreviated timeframe.  If you like to be funny, you'll LOVE The Murder Mystery!  So email me if you want to audition. You're already at your computer, so just hit "reply," and we'll get started! THANKS!!!

Watch for information on upcoming events! We've got TWO WONDERFUL concerts coming up in January at the Playhouse, of course OLIVER is cast and ready to start rehearsal after the holidays, so watch for it in February, and the Victorian Carolers are Warming EVERYONE's Winter with their WONDERFUL Carols!  Also be thinking about SUDDEN THEATRE, coming in the Spring!!  WOW! Kenai Performers ROCK!

ANNOUNCING: SUDDEN THEATRE 2009!

CALL FOR DIRECTORS

Have you ever thought about directing a play but found the prospect a little intimidating?  Here's your chance to try it on and see how it fits without making The Big Commitment.  As one whose first (and only) directorial experiences were with ten-minute plays, I highly recommend it.  Casts are typically smaller, and rehearsal schedules are very easy on one's personal life.  If you have seen or participated in either of our previous evenings of ten-minute plays, you know how much fun they are!

We are looking for people to direct one or more shows, up to about twelve shows.  Here are the vitals:

Auditions March 6 and 7, at the Playhouse.  There will be a directors' meeting an hour prior to the first audition session to plan the process for auditions.

Play dates are: April 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26, at the Playhouse.

As with last year's Sudden Theatre, the stage will be nothing but a black background and legs, and the only set pieces will be black wooden boxes of various sizes that can be used singly or in combination to evoke whatever you want.  Props are fine, but I suggest you keep them to a minimum. We're after speedy transitions between plays.

Comedy, drama, young people, geezers, your choice.  There are many websites where you can view and purchase scripts.  Some are:

www.hitplays.com/10-minute

www.10-minute-plays.com

www.theatrehistory.com/plays/10minute.html

www.lazybeescripts.co.uk

…and many more.  Or write your own!  The only requirements are that the play is 10 minutes in length or shorter, and it must not be rated nastier than PG-13.

If you are interested in directing a play (you don't need to have a specific play in mind at this point), or if you have any questions or concerns at all, please email Marc Berezin at mberezin@educdatasys.com, or call me. My home office number is 262-8874.

October 13, 2008

You are cordially invited to the auditions for the 2008 season of the Kenai Performers Victorian Carolers!

This will be our 7th season providing holiday music throughout the Central Peninsula.  For the last six years, we have been entertaining audiences and having a great time singing Christmas carols.  The proceeds go to the Kenai Performers Bandwagon Campaign and securing a permanent home.  It is our Christmas present to the Kenai Performers!

The auditions will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 18th at the Old Town Playhouse in Kenai.  This year we are looking to cast Sopranos, Altos, Tenors and Basses equally.  Singers should be at least a senior in high school and have transportation to/from rehearsals and performances (we encourage carpooling!).  Ability to sight-read music is a MUST for singers new to Victorian Carolers.  Prior experience singing carols (in harmony) is a big plus!  We prefer to have singers that can join us for the entire season ( November 28-December 23), but have often accommodated those who are only available for part of the season.

Rehearsals are held twice a week, and as needed, to get brushed up for the opening season "Christmas Comes to Kenai" parade.  To do "the Carolers" right, we need a commitment from singers that they will attend all rehearsals (or as many as humanly possible)since it slows the group down to wait for a singer to 'catch up' at the next rehearsal.  Last year we added some new songs to our repertoire, bringing us to a total of 43 carols.  Singers often work their parts on their own, which helps everyone.

Being cast as a Caroler also means staying as available as possible to sing between November 28 and December 23.  Most of us work during the day and are only able to sing on evenings and weekends, but that is when most of the gigs get scheduled anyway.  There may be some requests for weekday performances that we try to accommodate based on our schedules.  Singers should be ready at the first rehearsal to advise the director of as many season conflicts they foresee in their schedules.  We typically have several performances scheduled by the end of the rehearsal period, and singers will receive a performance calendar and updates as we go. Last year we had 17 performances.

A chance to wear Chris Cook's beautiful new costumes are reason enough to make you want to audition!

Hope to see you there!
